THE RAHMAN GROUP

The Rahman Group operates in the field of leather & footwear manufacturing. As part of the multinational Rahman Group, which has manufacturing facilities in India, France, South Africa, the UAE and Tunisia, Mossop is now able to leverage its association with one of the most respected leather and footwear manufacturers in the world. The Group is well equipped with the most-up-to date machinery and technology – together with a specialised workforce – to produce all types of quality leather, footwear (specially in safety & army footwear) and leathergoods.

They have a steadfast reputation for their commitment to quality and it is reaffirmed by their ISO 9001:2008 certification. Stringent EN ISO 20345 and DIN norms adds to make them one of the most respected manufacturers in this sector. Building on the group’s foothold in key markets in Asia, Europe, China and India, the company hopes to bring its innovative technologies to a new audience.

“We believe that we have one of the most modern R&D capabilities anywhere in Africa, so we can meet the needs of the global market. Being part of an international group opens up new opportunities and gives us the credibility that goes with being part of a network of high-quality tanneries around the world”.

THE BOLTON GROUP

The Bolton Group’s journey started in 1859 with Charles Searle (an immigrant from England) that settled as a toll keeper at Great Brak River. He began making his own rugged leather “veldschoen” stitch-down boots which he supplied to the ox-wagon operators transporting goods between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. In the years that followed, the company diversified its interests, incorporating a tannery, sawmill, a timber home construction division, retail shops, as well as automotive sales and services.

In 1980 the company was bought by Desmond Bolton and following a reconstruction of the Group – was renamed Bolton Footwear in 1987. During the 1990’s it dis-invested from all activities which were not related to footwear to concentrate and expand this part of the business. Barker Footwear joined the stable in 2013 followed by Jordan & Co in 2015 – two major market players in their own right. Today, Bolton Footwear is one of South Africa’s foremost footwear companies. All footwear offered by the Group is targeted at defined market niches, competitively priced and manufactured from the highest quality of leather and raw material available. Apart from a stake in the Tannery, Mossop has proudly supplied shoe upper leather for the Group’s many diverse ranges of footwear consistently for many years.
